Last week’s SmackDown was hyped all because of the return of AJ Styles. However, his return did not go as planned after he suffered a horrifying injury in his match against Carmelo Hayes. Although the severity of the injury was undetermined, there were a lot of conflicting reports suggesting it to be a work.
Now, there has been a major update on the status of the former WWE Champion. According to Fightful Select, the friends and family members of the latter are being informed that the injury sustained by him is serious. Considering that, this report debunks all the previous reports of the injury being a work.
Besides, there were a few more updates on Styles earlier suggesting that he has been getting an MRI to determine the severity of his injury. With such a massive swing, it puts a question mark on the future of The Phenomenal One from here on. Given that he has been working in his twilight years, it is heartbreaking news for his fans.

Moreover, it was the first appearance of AJ Styles following a hiatus of over 3 months. Following his match with Cody Rhodes at Clash at the Castle, WWE wrote him off TV due to a lack of creative plans. However, for now, it is going to be interesting to see what the future holds for the 47-year-old on SmackDown.
Former WWE superstar Gail Kim talked about the return of AJ Styles to TNA
TNA has been an integral part of the career of AJ Styles. After being the face of the promotion for years, he left the company in 2013 to make a name for himself in other promotions. However, current TNA talent Gail Kim recently talked about how big Styles’ return to the company could be if it happens now.
Speaking on K&S WrestleFest, Kim stated that it would be a dream come true for many fans who have been anticipating the return of The Phenomenal One to the company. She added that he has been an important part of TNA’s history. Therefore, AJ Styles having his twilight years in the Nashville-based promotion would be a storybook ending.
That would be, honestly, a dream come true (for A.J. Styles to return to TNA) and it doesn’t even sound like an impossible thing because we do have a relationship right now so, you know what? I think it would only be fitting if he got to do something…

Moreover, Kim even claimed that there are good working relationship between WWE and TNA. Therefore, it is highly possible for The Phenomenal One to have a run with the promotion. However, only time will tell if that would be possible or not considering the current status of the former WWE Champion.
