Brock Lesnar trounced John Cena in his first WWE match since August 2023 at Wrestlepalooza. After reuniting with his longtime manager Paul Heyman, ‘The Beast’ went on a rampage by physically outmaneuvering a hapless Cena. The latter couldn’t sustain the beating for long and succumbed to a pinfall loss in less than 9 minutes.
After such a dominant display, the question begs, what’s next for the former UFC ace? As noted during WrestleVotes Radio, Lesnar is tentatively planned for the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania 42 next year. Sources indicate that the creative team is directed to work under the impression that ‘The Beast Incarnate’ will be a part of the aforementioned events in 2026.
It also doesn’t seem likely that Lesnar is done with WWE for the remainder of this year. While he’s not currently advertised for Survivor Series in November, the rumors of his WarGames match debut have gained traction ever since Lesnar’s reconciliation with Paul Heyman.

The fans are speculating about Heyman talking the 10-time world champion into potentially lending a helping hand to Seth Rollins‘ Vision faction in some capacity. It’d be interesting to see exactly how things are going to unfold in the weeks to come.
Lesnar came back to WWE about a couple of months ago at SummerSlam and targeted Cena with remotely no justification behind it whatsoever. The fans heavily criticized the company’s decision to not engage Lesnar and Cena in an in-ring faceoff, let alone a promo segment. If that much flak wasn’t enough, their showdown at Wrestlepalooza gave umpteen reasons to double down on this banal short-term feud.
John Cena’s father unappreciative of his son’s Wrestlepalooza ‘squash’ to Brock Lesnar
If the majority of the WWE Universe felt offended with the way John Cena was booked to lose to Brock Lesnar at Wrestlepalooza, they now have the backing of Cena’s father. The latter spoke to Dr. Chris Featherstone on WrestleBinge and explained why Lesnar vs. Cena made no sense to him at all.

Cena Sr. underscored the importance of putting smiles on the faces of the fans attending the shows, and seeing a number of children cry due to Lesnar making a mockery out of ‘The Cenation Leader’ didn’t sit well with the latter’s dad. Cena Sr. was also concerned about his son’s physical well-being after the number of F-5s he endured.

While he lauded Lesnar as a wonderful human being and someone who very often takes care of the majority of talent he ends up working with, Cena’s father questioned the need of making his son look completely impotent.
The questioning came so because the Hollywood mogul is in his last few dates as an active wrestler. Cena Sr. didn’t think it was even a contest. In fact, he believes it was nothing more than his son getting squashed by The Beast.
Who could face Brock Lesnar at next year’s WrestleMania?
As noted above, Brock Lesnar is slated to work WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas. In fact, he’s also featured on the poster of the two-night extravaganza alongside top names like Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, CM Punk, Seth Rollins, Becky Lynch, Rhea Ripley, and Jade Cargill. An update has emerged regarding early discussions of Lesnar’s potential opponent for ‘The Show of Shows’ in April 2026.

As per BodySlam, there have been internal rumblings in WWE of late regarding Lesnar taking on Bron Breakker at WrestleMania 42. It’s worth noting that nothing is set in stone with the show still almost 7 months to go. But one could now anticipate this bout based on Lesnar’s restored proximity with Paul Heyman, who’s currently managing Breakker as part of The Vision.

The slow burn of this feud is where the money lies, and if it actually leads to Lesnar vs. Breakker, WWE wouldn’t have a better opportunity to establish ‘The Unpredictable Badass’ as a force to be reckoned with. Breakker has found his footing on the main roster under the tutelage of ‘The Oracle’ and he’s just getting started.
