WWE has recently brought back old Pay-Per-View names in the form of special episodes of Raw or SmackDown or as NXT PLEs. However, an old Pay-Per-View that WWE wanted to bring back fully is Bad Blood. The plan seems to be in motion as fans have gotten a hint of where and when this upcoming PLE could take place.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider reported that WWE is actively targeting an October 5th, 2024, date for the PLE. Furthermore, the news outlet suggested that the Stamford-based promotion is looking to host the event in the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.

The city’s state farm arena is currently not booked for October 5th. However, it has prior reservations for both October 4th and 6th. The company is also yet to announce a date for that week’s edition of SmackDown. The episode of Raw that week is set to take place on September 30th in Evansville, Indiana.

This date for the PLE would align with the inaugural Hell in a Cell Match to the day. On October 5th, 1997, Shawn Michaels took on The Undertaker in the first instance of WWE’s most popular stipulations at Badd Blood: In Your House.

Furthermore, this date also marks 20 years since the WWE Universe last saw this Pay-Per-View name. It was also headlined by a Hell in a Cell match featuring Shawn Michaels, this time against Triple H. It would also go down in history as the longest Hell in a Cell match, clocking in at over 47 minutes.

Why did WWE originally get rid of the Bad Blood Pay-Per-View?

The first rendition of the PPV came about in 1997 when it was marketed alongside the infamous In Your House Shows. As aforementioned, not only was Badd Blood: In Your House in 1997 the first rendition of the PPV, but it also featured the first Hell in a Cell match.

In 2003, Bad Blood was rebranded as its own PPV, taking place in June and showcasing Raw superstars. It still maintained its headline attraction of featuring a Hell in a Cell match. After 2004, WWE discontinued Bad Blood, opting to integrate One Night Stand and Vengeance into its pay-per-view lineup instead. Further, the Hell in a Cell attraction was later given to a PPV of its own name.

The Stamford-based promotion did consider bringing back the name in 2017. However, it ultimately never came to fruition in favor of the debut of Great Balls of Fire. According to reports released last weekend, WWE is now finally prepared to bring back Bad Blood 20 years later.
