Raheem Sterling reportedly wants to turn it around and fight for his place at Arsenal. He does not want to end his loan spell at the Emirates club and wants to win over the confidence of Mikel Arteta despite being on the sidelines for the majority of the season at the North London club, per reports from The Standard.
Edu Gaspar, who is no longer at the club, wanted Sterling in the summer transfer window as he thought that the player would have been suitable for the Gunners from a financial perspective and also from the sporting perspective. A loan move was chalked out and finalized on the deadline day of the summer transfer window.
Fans and analysts thought that it was going to be a great move, and Sterling would contribute massively to Arsenal. However, the season hasn’t gone well for him so far, and he has also found himself out of the starting lineup.
Sterling has played 10 games so far and has scored one goal with two assists. He has played just six games in the Premier League and has registered just one assist there. Sterling made the main impact in the EFL Cup with one goal and one assist in the two games that he has played in the competition so far.
Reports and rumors had stated that Arsenal would cut short the loan move with the player, but that’s not the case with Sterling. The player has enjoyed a good rapport with Arteta since his time at Manchester City. He wants to win over the confidence of the coach and see the left wing as an opportunity to showcase his performance, despite the lack of opportunities this season.
Mikel Arteta reveals his intentions of winning more trophies ahead of the clash against Crystal Palace
Meanwhile, Arteta wants to win more trophies and add to their achievements with the club. He also stated that he and his players will do their best to accomplish that target and goal.

Arteta reflected on the draw against Everton and said that his team were the only one who deserved to win that game.
We have to add trophies to that, for sure. And we will do our best to achieve that. I feel very disappointed not to win the game, because, obviously, if there’s a team that deserved to win, there’s only one, which is Arsenal. We gave nothing away, no shots conceded, dominated our play, not allowed them to run, no set pieces. High-press, excellent. We got them there. We generated the chances, but the last 20 meters was missing to score goals, which is what you have to do with all the dominance because we have never been able to dominate it that way.
Mikel Arteta said
He felt that the Gunners were superb against Everton and gave nothing away, did not concede any shots, and controlled the game effectively.
But at the end you have to try to generate the highest winning probability. Now that you draw the game, you want more. Even if we win it, we always want more. But I cannot ask much more to the boys apart from putting the ball in the net.
Mikel Arteta added
Arsenal will next face Crystal Palace at home in the EFL Cup. Meanwhile, in the Premier League standings, they are third in the points table with 30 points in 16 matches. They have won eight matches, drawn six, and lost two games.
