It’s not usual for WrestleMania-level plans to constantly evolve with about a couple of months until showtime. However, WWE hasn’t been able to lock down the probable main events for the two-night extravaganza. Last weekend’s Royal Rumble fallout saw a triple threat match being set in motion for Mania feat. CM Punk, Roman Reigns, and Seth Rollins.

Even though the said all-star bout isn’t off the table, there are some people within WWE who’d rather see Punk compete for the Undisputed WWE title at WrestleMania 41, per WrestleVotes. It could see the Chicagoan facing Cody Rhodes and John Cena with gold on the line. However, there’s no word on if the ongoing discussions are enough to make a pivot.

Both Punk and Cena are among those six superstars who’ll duke it out inside the Elimination Chamber next month. Most of the fans will be backing one of these men to go the distance in Toronto. If the Peacemaker actor pulls off the unthinkable, he will challenge Rhodes for the WWE title at The Show of Shows.

Where would Punk go from there? His lifelong dream of headlining WrestleMania relies on how he fares inside the Elimination Chamber. What if Punk doesn’t win? Will he be done chasing that one goal that has evaded him his entire career? The mere thought of it might break Punk emotionally.

But isn’t Paul Heyman subject to bestowing a favor on his former client? The Wiseman owes a little something to The Second City Saint. If WWE decides to insert Punk into the world title match at WrestleMania, Heyman’s favor to the 46-year-old could be the only bargaining chip Punk would need. He may cash it in and ask Paul to pull some strings backstage.

How CM Punk’s WrestleMania 41 plans kept changing over the last year?

Dating back to the summer of 2024, CM Punk was penciled in to battle Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 41. However, their long-awaited showdown got preponed to Raw’s Netflix debut. This was even confirmed by Sami Zayn during an interview prior to the January 6 landmark for WWE.

After that, a report from Fightful noted that Punk was lined up for a dream match against Roman Reigns at The Showcase of the Immortals. The Best in the World helped The OTC in his family business at Survivor Series: WarGames at the behest of Paul Heyman.

But the deal wasn’t agreed upon until an exchange of favors. It’s rumored that whatever Punk demands from Heyman will have direct implications on the main events of either night of WrestleMania 41.
