The New York Giants drafted Odell Beckham Jr. and Malik Nabers 10 years apart, but there’s a lot more in common between them than meets the eye. Nabers grew up idolizing Beckham and even modeled his play around the veteran Super Bowl winner.

However, Nabers revealed a striking similarity between him and Beckham, which perhaps was a well-kept secret for close to a decade. The 2024 first-round pick showed his hands to Kay Adams, the host of Up & Adams, and claimed they were much larger, and he always had difficulties finding a pair of gloves that fit him.

When I was like 12 or 11 years old, I sent him a text message. I was like, My hands are too big to fit gloves. They would only put so many gloves in the academy, but I couldn’t fit them because my hands were too big. So I reached out to him cuz [because] I heard he had big hands. I was like, bro, I need some gloves.

However, he never received any reply until the day the Giants drafted him.

It looks like you don’t need those gloves anymore.

It’s definitely a cool story because Beckham remembered his name and must have rooted for Nabers when he joined his alma mater, the LSU Tigers. The Louisiana native lit up college football, completing 189 catches for 3003 yards and 21 touchdowns.

Malik Nabers injured even before his first NFL snap

The much-awaited Malik Nabers‘ debut came during the Giants pre-season 14-3 win over the Detroit Lions. Despite spending a significant amount of time in the game, he did not see the ball once, neither from Drew Lock nor Tommy DeVito.

Then on Sunday, surprising as well as concerning news slipped out of the Giants’ training ground.

[Malik] Nabers was reaching down and touching the top outside of his left foot. He is now sitting on the ground with his sock off being looked at by three members of the training staff.
NFL columnist Pat Leonard reported

Later, ESPN confirmed that Nabers injured his ankle. He wasn’t present during the media brief after the practice. There haven’t been any further details since then, as the coaches remained silent about the entire incident. Their next game is against the Houston Texans in a week’s time in Houston.
