The New York Giants and Detroit Lions’ joint practice has gone viral on the internet, but that has hardly to do anything with the practice. The players from both teams got into a physical brawl on-field, which seemed to have continued on the second day, but this time, Malik Nabers and Kerby Joseph were at the center of it.

It happened when the Giants’ newly drafted wide receiver went deep to catch a pass, which could have been a touchdown, but he was blocked. He then passed by Joseph, who aggressively started throwing punches and it was later found that Nabers bumped into him first.

At first, it was only them throwing punches at each other, but once they were pulled apart, the rest of the team from both sides broke into the fight. Prior to this on Monday’s joint practice session, players from both teams engaged in a similar brawl but Amon-Ra St. Brown and Dru Phillips were in the center before the rest of the players joined in.

Although on the first day, both were simply shoving and pushing each other on the second, literal punches were thrown, which seemed to have hit Nabers. This is not the first time that the NFL has witnessed such a physical brawl among the players. It calls for serious discussion and rules regarding such incidents, as it creates tons of injury risks.

Daniel Jones was also part of the Brawls that erupted at Giants-Lions joint practice

Even though the Giants and Lions are not rival teams in the NFL, their joint practice sessions are not going as they hoped for. For the last two days, the field has witnessed a brawl among the players of both teams, and each became more dangerous, especially since the second day involved punches.

A situation happens like that, you try to stand up for your guys. I thought it was good competitive practice all day [Monday] and we made some plays and did some good things. There are some things we need to shore up, for sure, but good intensity and competitive spirit ther.
Giants’ quarterback Daniel Jones when asked about the on-field fight.

The star quarterback was also part of the escalated fight the second time it happened, where he can be seen throwing a Lions player to the turf. Fortunately, coaches quickly separated Jones from the skirmish. Linebacker Brian Burns remarked that fighting should be left to bigger players like the O-line and D-line. Fans definitely don’t want to see an injured quarterback, especially in the offseason.
