Rookie Malik Nabers appears to be regretting joining the New York Giants. Although he did not say those exact words, his nonchalant attitude after dropping catches reflects that sentiment.
It wasn’t too long ago when the rookie wide receiver threw shades at his head coach Brian Daboll upon not receiving targets in the first half of the Week 13 game. After claiming not to regret his stern comments, Nabers made another startling remark before the media following the disappointing Thanksgiving loss against the Dallas Cowboys at 27-20.

"I was happy." Thought it helped him get into a rhythm.
As for the drops:
"I don't care about drops. It's part of football. I don't care if I drop the ball six times, keep throwing me the ball."
Altering the mistakes of last game, Nabers was targeted 13 times in the game– highest in the team, out of which he caught eight passes for 69 yards. However, he dropped two of the three passes that Pro Football Focus recorded for the team.
While the drops compromised the game for the Giants, Nabers is also leading all rookie receivers with an alarming 8.5% drop rate. His drops for this season are now totaled to seven, and he is ranked among the three wide receivers (CeeDee Lamb and Garrett Wilson) with at least 100 targets this season.
Head Coach Brian Daboll faces pressure amid the collapsing season
The Week 13 loss marked the Giants’ seventh consecutive loss this season as they dropped to 2-10 season standing. The only good part of the deteriorating season is their projected 2025 draft pick had advanced to first or second overall pick, which they desperately need to draft a quarterback after releasing franchise quarterback Daniel Jones.
However, this certainly put head coach Daboll on the hot seat next season after the New Orleans Saints fired Dennis Allen because of the 2-7 record. According to Fox Sports’ Jordan Schultz, owner John Mara has no plans to fire Daboll in the middle of the season, giving him a chance to prove his worth in the remainder of the season.
Daboll earned prominence in the league with the development of Buffalo Bills’ Josh Allen into one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL. He had similar plans for Jones, but he failed the second time and the Giants released Jones last week.
