RCD Mallorca defender Pablo Maffeo taunted Vinicius Jr. by claiming that he would knock the Brazilian out in just ten seconds in a boxing match. Maffeo’s claim comes ahead of a Supercopa de Espana clash between the two clubs this week.

Pablo Maffeo and Vinicius Jr. have a brief history between them. The 27-year-old defender has a poor disciplinary record against Los Blancos. He has received six yellow cards in his ten appearances against Real Madrid.

In a match back in 2021, Maffeo had first clashed with Vinicius. He was sent off for a rash tackle on the Brazilian. They later came to terms during a La Liga encounter between the two sides earlier this season. Maffeo revealed that he personally approached Vinicius to put aside their past differences. Moreover, he also spoke about the red card he received against Real Madrid in 2021.

At that time, Maffeo backed the referee’s decision, while confirming that he did step on the forward. However, the Mallorca full-back might have reignited the feud by calling for a fictional boxing match with Vinicius. Pablo Maffeo hilariously claimed that a potential boxing match would end in the worst possible way for the Real Madrid star.

It would be in a world apart, in a fictional life, but I think it could be the most watched fight in history. I think I would win, I have no doubt, I would knock him [Vinicius Jr.] out in 10 seconds.

Pablo Maffeo’s challenge comes days after the 24-year-old Real Madrid ace was red carded for punching Valencia goalkeeper Stole Dimitrievski. It remains to be seen whether Vinicius Jr. turns up for the match against Mallorca, as he risks getting a four-match ban.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti claims that it is difficult to be in Vinicius Jr.’s ‘shoes’

Los Blancos star Vinicius Jr. was at the center of controversy after he was shown a red card for a foul on Valencia keeper Stole Dimitrievski. Manager Carlo Ancelotti sympathized with the 24-year-old after the incident. Moreover, he opposed the referee’s decision as well.

Ancelotti claimed that Vini was wrongfully awarded a red card, and should have only received a yellow card. The Italian boss added that it is not easy to be in the situation of Brazilian forward. It is true to some extent, owing to the fact that the 24-year-old has been a target of racist chants and slurs from opposition fans in recent years.

It’s difficult being in his shoes. It’s not easy to endure everything he goes through, including the insults. It’s not simple, but he’s trying to improve.

Moreover, Ancelotti also praised the forward’s attitude, while exclaiming that no player is perfect. He stated that the club would appeal against the red card that was shown to Vinicius. It comes ahead of a the RFEF’s hearing on referee Cesar Soto Grado’s decision.
