Manas Dhamne wins Junior Grand Slam in US

He is just 11 years old but instead of snuggling under blanket in chilly winter he scripted history for India to become first India to win this title. Manas Dhamne from Pune wins junior grand slam in Florida,US. In final he defeated Maxwell E of USA to win prestigious Under-12 ITF Eddie Herr International Junior Championship.

After a few hours he finished as runner up in under-12 boys double event with Aarav Hada of Nepal. Eddie Herr Championship attracts over 2000 junior from over 90 countries. So this is a no mean feat for Manas.

Eddie Herr Championship is a top ITF tournament in world for junior age groups. Before Manas, Yuki Bhambri, who became junior world no 1 has won Orange Bowl in 2008. Orange Bowl championship is starting next week and Manas will be setting his eyes on it.

Before this tournament Manas has won Les Petits as Asia playoff last month and U-12 Asian Team Championship earlier this year. He trains under his coach Aditya Madgikar at Adhar Poonawala Maharashtra Tennis Academy. According to his coach he has a strong backhand.
