Manchester City were reportedly one of the clubs who would look to acquire the services of Erling haaland. The rumour was fuelled more as the club recently announced the decision to part away with their legendary striker Sergio Aguero.

However, Pep Guardiola has ruled out a move for a striker in the summer as he does not believe that they have the funds to pull of o transfer of that financial stature. Many news outlets reported that, although they have been following Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland – the most coveted striker in Europe – his valuation of more than £100m may price City out of a deal, leading them to consider Danny Ings as a more attainable option.

Pep Guardiola conceded that replacing Sergio Aguero will not be an easy task

“With these prices we are not going to buy any striker. It is impossible, we cannot afford it,” the Catalan coach said during a news conference on Friday.

“All clubs struggle financially, we are not an exception. We have Gabriel [Jesus], Ferran [Torres], young academy players, false nines. I don’t know what will happen.

“Today there is more of a big chance we won’t sign a new striker for next season.”

Pep Guardiola also acknowledged that letting go of Sergio Aguero was not an easy decision as he has been a prolific goal scorer for the club in the last 10 years.

“These decisions are never easy,” Guardiola said as he reflected on his impending parting of the ways with the 32-year-old. “Maybe we could find a new player to replace Sergio in terms of numbers but it is almost impossible to replace him in terms of what he means to this club.”
