Manchester City shot-stopper Ederson created Premier League history by becoming the goal-keeper with the most assists in the competition. He achieved this feat in at the Etihad, during City’s dominating 4-0 victory over Newcastle United.
In the 19th minute of Man City’s EPL outing against the Magpies, goalkeeper Ederson provided a long ball from ten yards outside his own box, up the pitch to forward Omar Marmoush. The Egyptian forward calmly controlled it and lobbed it over Martin Dubravka to open the scoring for the home side. Moreover, Marmoush went on to score a 24-minute hat-trick for the side.
Ederson subsequently made history, as the assist marked his sixth one for Manchester City in the Premier League. The Brazilian shot-stopper surpassed former Tottenham and Leeds United keeper Paul Robinson, who held the record with five assists in the English top-flight. Moreover, the 31-year-old keeper took his season tally to three assists in 24 appearances. It is the most by any keeper in a single EPL season.
