Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz has emerged as one of the most sought after talents in all of Europe. The German forward played a crucial part for Xabi Alonso‘s side as they beat Bayern Munich to the Bundesliga title last season. With his performances speaking for itself, several clubs, including the likes of Bayern, Manchester City, Liverpool and Manchester United have expressed their desire in signing the player.
Despite initial links to Jamal Musiala, Pep Guardiola‘s Manchester City have reportedly turned their attention to Florian Wirtz as Kevin De Bruyne‘s replacement. The Belgian is 33 years old and has become increasingly more injury prone in recent seasons. With added interest from Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr, it wouldn’t be a surprise if City end up letting him go in the near future.
De Bruyne has expressed his desire to play in the Saudi Pro League, while Wirtz himself has also revealed his stance on a potential transfer. While Leverkusen would prefer to sell him to a club outside of the Bundesliga, Wirtz feels that staying in Germany for a bit longer will help his career.

Pep Guardiola shares take on new England manager amidst rumors surrounding future at club
Former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel was recently appointed as England manager, leading to mixed reactions in the media. Many appeared to oppose the fact that a non-English manager was given the keys to The Three Lions, although others did not make a big deal out of it. Pep Guardiola was quizzed about the same in a recent press conference, to which he calmly replied that one’s place of birth shouldn’t matter.
The manager also took questions on his future at the club rumors linking him to a move away from City. The Spaniard jokingly claimed that he’s waiting for the weather to change to make a decision regarding his future.
"I would support him unconditionally because he will represent your country the very best" ?

He also stated that City haven’t ever put pressure on him to make a decision and that they have ample options in case he does walk away from his position. Guardiola is undoubtedly the most successful manager in the club’s history and one of the best ever. Sporting CP boss Ruben Amorim was recently linked with the City job in case Guardiola vacates his position.
