Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola recently addressed long-time rumors linking him to the vacant England head coach position, next summer. The 53-year-old manager’s future in the EPL remains in doubt, as he enters the final year of his contract at City.
Pep Guardiola‘s deal with the reigning Premier League champions is set to expire in the summer of 2025. He is yet to agree on a contract extension, and is rumored to be intending to end his eight-year stay at the club. Guardiola has won every major title with the club, including six EPL titles, two FA Cups, four EFL Cups, one UCL and one Club World Cup title. He is now being linked with the England head coach position, which has been left vacant following Gareth Southgate’s exit after the 2024 Euros.
With England having most recently suffered a 2-1 defeat to Greece, interim coach Lee Carlsey‘s tenure could be cut short in favor of Guardiola. The Spaniard, however, in a recent interview, stated that his career at Manchester City was not yet finished. Moreover, he brushed aside the rumors, exclaiming that he hadn’t decided on his future and also highlighted the probability of anything happening in life. Guardiola could follow a path similar to that of Jurgen Klopp, who took to the football administration.

Apart from Guardiola, the FA has set its sights on ex-Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel and Newcastle’s Eddie Howe. It remains to be seen what comes ahead for the Manchester City manager, who has also been linked to a return to his former club, FC Barcelona.
Pep Guardiola surprisingly labels Lionel Messi as the greatest football player ever
Pep Guardiola ended the contemporary Lionel Messi–Cristiano Ronaldo debate by suggesting that the Argentine is the ‘Greatest Footballer of All Time’. They two enjoyed a brilliant relationship during their time together at FC Barcelona, between 2008 and 2012.
Speaking at a recent interview, the Manchester City manager discussed various topics including Messi’s contribution to the sport. He stated that he would easily recognize the Inter Miami star as the ‘best player’, while also agreeing that it would not disrespect legends, Pele and Diego Maradona, in favor of Messi. Moreover, he commended the forward’s consistency over the last 15-20 years.

Additionally, the 53-year-old manager compared the Argentine star to other sporting greats, including NBA legend Michael Jordan and golf star Tiger Woods. Messi, despite his age, is still going strong in the MLS.
