Manchester City have gotten the January transfer window up and running, after finalizing a deal to sign Lens center-back Abdukodir Khusanov. The club has reached an agreement with the Ligue 1 giants on a £33.5 million transfer deal, with add-ons.

Manchester City have endured a difficult period this season, having won just three out of their last 15 encounters. Manager Pep Guardiola has been determined to strengthen his squad during the ongoing January transfer window.

It comes after a difficult couple of months which saw the club slip to the sixth position on the EPL table. Following a string of injuries to two of the club’s primary center-backs, John Stones and Ruben Dias, City has now agreed upon a deal for their first transfer target this month. The club has successfully struck a deal to sign Abdukodir Khusanov.

The 20-year-old center-back is a creative player, known for his strength, athleticism and pace. Standing tall at 6 feet 1 inches, Khusanov clocked staggering speeds of up to 37 km/h, earlier this season. He has made 16 appearances for Lens this season.

At City, he will likely be included into the senior team right away, amid the club’s poor defensive form.  Interestingly, the 20-year-old will become the first Uzbek player to join an EPL club. Abdukodir Khusanov will also become the most expensive Uzbek player in history. He would therefore be surpassing Eldor Shomurodov, who moved from Genoa to Roma in 2021.

Manchester City moves closer to signing Eintracht Frankfurt striker Omar Marmoush

Manchester City have moved a step closer to signing Eintracht Frankfurt striker Omar Marmoush during the ongoing January transfer window. The 25-year-old Egyptian star has been one of Bundesliga’s foremost revelations this season. He has made an impact with his brilliant goal-scoring abilities.

With 19 goals and 11 assists in just 25 matches for Frankfurt this season, Marmoush is one of the most sought-after forwards in Europe. His brilliant offensive abilities have attracted several suitors, including the struggling Man City. The reigning EPL champions are willing to spend a massive sum of around £50 million to secure the ex-Wolfsburg star’s services, in order to turn around their recent slump in form.

Moreover, Marmoush will not be an effective replacement for the misfiring Erling Haaland. He would rather compliment the Norwegian, and add versatility to City’s front-line, something they surely lack now. He would fill up the void left behind by Julian Alvarez, who joined Atletico Madrid this summer.
