Manchester City Transfer News: Pep eyes Ruben Dias

Manchester City seem to be in the running for Benfica’s Ruben Dias. Pep Guardiola has been wanting a right-sided centre back, ever since captain Vincent Kompany left the club. It’s been 18 months, and City are still trying to find the replacement.
Ruben Dias deal possible?

City are ready to make an offer of around €55 million for the Portuguese International. City have tried for various defenders over this summer. There was Sevilla’s Jules Kounde, and then Atleti’s Gimenez. However, the most famous attempt was the one of Napoli’s Koulibaly.
Pep has his sights on restructuring the defence, with the recent signing of Nathan Ake. With the future of Eric Garcia in doubt, amid rumours of him leaving for Barcelona, they need another strong centre-back.

There are plans for offloading Otamendi to Benfica with a player plus cash deal for the Benfica man. Dias has attracted interest from many top clubs, after impressing on the international stage. His 2018 world cup performance was one to watch which put many clubs on his radar.
This deal would see Guardiola’s spending to €400 million on just defenders. There is no doubt that City have the financial power, but it is high time, they offload their players and sell the unrequired ones.
