Manchester United could only manage to claim a point against Enzo Maresca‘s Chelsea. While many argued that the scoreline was just, others felt that the Red Devils had themselves to blame for dropping points. With several chances spurned on either side, one particular player stood out from the rest, and not for good reasons.
Alejandro Garnacho was heavily criticized on social media and by football pundits after the 1-1 draw owing to his poor finishing and decision-making. The forward wasted several chances, much to the frustration of his teammates and the home crowd. A clip of Casemiro furiously shouting at the 20-year-old after a poor attacking decision summed up his night for the Reds.
Garnacho’s best chance against Chelsea came in the first half. It was when the player’s left-footed shot was saved by Robert Sanchez.

He also came close to scoring in the final minutes of the second half, although his powerful volley went inches above the crossbar. The No.17 had one of the worst outings of his season for United on Sunday.
Fans react to Alejandro Garnacho’s horrendous performance
Looking back at the chances missed by Alejandro Garnacho, a fan commented that whoever compared him to Cristiano Ronaldo deserves to be in jail. Another laughed at how Casemiro put the Argentine back in his place and scared him from not doing anything ‘foolish’ again. Many expressed frustration at the player missing many chances in a crucial game.
A fan stated that Garnacho became carried away with the Ronaldo comparisons and felt he could win the game alone. A post ridiculed United for even giving Garnacho a spot in the starting XI. The post also suggested that it indicates how far they’ve fallen below. Check out some of the reactions below:
The “Viva Garnacho” chants in his head was telling him to run from the wings & bullet it like 08 Cristiano so he could sit on the board & fold his arms like a demented retard https://t.co/LYbagkCZok

Best thing about a new manager is there’s nowhere to hide for these players. You got the last guy sacked so if you don’t give 100% you’re getting exposed. https://t.co/tW9IshWmbL pic.twitter.com/EqtnD15nr9
This is 100% about Garnacho lmao https://t.co/Y3PrES8rN4

We need to start taking Garnacho out for Amad, not Rashford

Manchester United have only won two of their last ten games in all competitions. Their next game will feature against PAOK in the Europa League. With the arrival of new manager Ruben Amorim just over the horizon, fans are on the edge of their seats to see how the Sporting boss will turn things around at the club. United are currently not even in the top 10 in the Premier League.
