Veteran Brazilian midfielder Casemiro is reportedly eyeing a move out of Manchester United in January, with several Saudi PL clubs interested. The 32-year-old player might end his two-year long United stint, after falling out of favor under new manager Ruben Amorim.

Casemiro had made a massive €71 million move to Manchester United from Real Madrid in the summer of 2022. He did enjoy an impressive debut season at Old Trafford under former manager Erik ten Hag. However, the 32-year-old’s form has taken a nosedive since then, as he has failed to replicate his previous best. Following Ruben Amorim’s arrival, Casemiro has received fewer playing opportunities.

The midfielder has made just six appearances for the club in its last 11 matches, and is no longer in the club’s plans for the future. Casemiro’s situation at United looked grim, following his poor display during the club’s recent 2-0 defeat to Newcastle. Brazilian media outlets recently reported that the 32-year-old is seeking a move away from the EPL.

He is keen on departing during the upcoming January transfer window. Several Saudi Pro League clubs are interested in signing him, including Cristiano Ronaldo-led Al-Nassr, Al-Ahli, Al-Hilal and AlIttihad. However, Al-Nassr would have to sell any one of its current players in order to make space for the Brazilian, as it does not have a vacant foreign player spot.

The Brazilian midfielder’s exit from Man Utd would also help the club lower its massive wage bill. This is owing to the fact that Casemiro is one of the club’s highest earners. The Red Devils might also bring in a few reinforcements during the upcoming transfer window.

Ruben Amorim makes shocking ‘relegation’ claim

Ruben Amorim stooped to a new low after recently admitting that Manchester United might be drawn into the relegation battle, owing the club’s poor form in the EPL. The Red Devils have not enjoyed the best of the year, as they remain in the 14th position on the EPL table.

Following their fourth-straight defeat to Newcastle United, the club now struggles to even make it out of the bottom half of the table. They remain just seven points above the relegation zone. Speaking after the match, manager Ruben Amorim conceded that the club is experiencing its most difficult moments. Bluntly, he added that United is fighting for ‘survival’, as well to avoid getting relegated.

I think that it is a possibility. We have to be clear with our fans. We have to acknowledge our position, the way you see the league, everybody can beat everybody. So we have to focus on surviving.

Manchester United will be hoping to bounce back from their recent slump. However, they next face a huge challenge in the EPL, against league-leaders Liverpool. This will be followed by a trip to the Emirates, for an FA Cup third-round fixture.
