After a disastrous spell of games under former boss Erik ten Hag, Manchester United have ‘temporarily’ managed to turn things around. Interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy took charge of his final game at the club with a convincing 3-0 victory over Leicester City in the Premier League. Goals from Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho helped the Red Devils claim an important win at home.

Captain Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring in the 17th minute. His powerful shot from the left-hand side found its way into bottom right corner.

The Portuguese then forced an own goal from Victor Kristiansen in the 38th minute to double his side’s advantage. His ‘missed’ header bounced off of the defender and fell into the opposition’s net.

With the hosts already establishing a firm hold over the game, Alejandro Garnacho stepped up to inflict the final dagger.

The Argentine stunned the crowd with a glorious finish from outside the penalty area into the top right corner. With the win, United now have 15 points from 11 games and are 13th in the table.

Will Ruud van Nistelrooy continue at Manchester United after Ruben Amorim’s arrival?

Ruud van Nistelrooy took charge of United after the embarrassing loss to West Ham United in late October. He then led the club to three wins and a draw, scoring 11 and conceding just three. United also kept two clean sheets during his time in charge.

The manager emotionally bid ‘farewell’ to the home crowd after the win as fans called for him to continue permanently in his position.

With several fans impressed with the former Manchester United striker, there remains the question of whether he’ll remain at the club after Ruben Amorim takes charge. Speaking about the same, the Portuguese boss gave some insight into what supporters can expect.

Will he stay? I’ve to talk with him in the next hours and then I will explain everything. Let’s wait.

Matthijs de Ligt also spoke positively about Ruud and stated that he can definitely continue in his position as an assistant.
