The young player’s contract was supposed to end on June 2021 but now a clause in his contract was activated. The player will now be able to leave Manchester United in the year 2022 and will now have fight for game time in a team that is pretty much established. Interesting times lie ahead for the England midfielder on what his future holds for him.

Manchester United’s very own Xavi is anything but that

Once dubbed to be ‘Manchester United’s very own Xavi’, Jesse Lingard has fallen behind so far. Academy players like Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood have staked their claim in the senior team while he is languishing behind. His cause hasn’t been helped by the frequent injuries he has suffered and also the quality of his performances when he isn’t.

Jesse Lingard hasn’t played a single minute of Premier League football this season for Manchester United and it is unknown why exactly. Sometimes it is listed as injury but he can be seen training with the team or individually. Sadly his state at Manchester United is such that he has to compete with Bruno Fernandes, Juan Mata, Donny van de Beek and Paul Pogba for a place in the starting 11.

It is tough for Juan Mata and new boy Donny van de Beek itself to feature in the starting 11 and it remains to be seen what Jesse Lingard will make of his situation. No played would want to simply bench warm and earn a sizeable salary and not play matches. Jesse Lingard’s situation is one to be taken notice of and smaller clubs could probably bid for him.
