Manchester United has been off to a rocky start in the ongoing edition of the Premier League and will be needing a facelift in the winter transfer window to keep their wheels of pride rolling. Somehow, the team under Erik ten Hag has failed to deliver the goals as expected and are currently ailing in the 14th position of the points table.

As reported by Sky Sport reporter and moderator, Florian Plettenberg, Manchester United is very closely monitoring the situation of a couple of Bayern Munich players, namely Leon Goretzka and Leroy Sane. The area of a central defensive midfielder has always been a tricky one for the Red Devils. The attempt to try and bolster the position by alternately plugging in Scott McTominay, Christian Eriksen and Casemiro hasn’t exactly been rewarding. Goretzka has been identified as a potential fix to that perennial problem if United is able to land him in the winter window.

Sane is being viewed as a potential replacement for Marcus Rashford on the left wing. Even though his key strengths lie in the right, he can still comfortably slot in both the flanks as previously seen for Manchester City and currently Bayern Munich. A high-profile transfer like Sane will be boosting United’s attacking flair, especially after the repeated failures of Rashford in the last couple of seasons.

In the summer window, the Red Devils managed to lay hands on two of Bayern’s key defenders, Matthijs de Ligt who has been a value addition to the centerback pair alongside Argentine defender, Lisandro Martinez. Apart from de Ligt, United’s signing of Noussair Mazraoui has also proven to be a promising affair. If United can land the duo of Sane and Goretzka, it will be a monumental boost in terms of the team’s chemistry.

INEOS terminates Sir Alex Ferguson’s multi-million dollar contract at Manchester United

In a shocking move and their persistent attempts to continue with the cost-cutting, Manchester United’s new part-owner, INEOS has decided to terminate a multi-million-pound annual commitment to Sir Alex Ferguson. Ferguson who is dotingly known as Fergie amongst the United fans was a part of the club for 26 staggering years and in his unchallenged reign at the Theatre of Dreams, he won 38 trophies for the side.

Following his exit as manager in 2013, Sir Alex Ferguson was retained as a global ambassador and club director. As a reward for his role post his coaching days in Manchester United, he was renumerated with an annual salary.

Ferguson remained as a director for Manchester United’s board but in truth it was just a ceremonial making and nothing in material which would decide the fate of the club. Apart from Fergie, other iconic names who have shared a similar position on the board for United include the likes of the late Sir Bobby Charlton, former Chief Executive David Gill and non-executive director, Michael Edelson.
