After an exciting tug of war with Real Madrid, Manchester United finally have their man. The Red Devils have been on the lookout for a solid centre-back following the departure of Raphael Varane. Names like Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro have made headlines for quite some time even though fans did not have high hopes to outbid Real Madrid.
In a surprising turn of events, Leny Yoro has made the decision to play for the Red Devils rather than the champions of Europe. It is reported that Yoro has now completed the first part of his United medical with more tests to follow. The 18-year-old will join United on a five-year deal until 2029. The transfer will see United pay Lille €50 million plus several add-ons.
Even though United finally have their man, fans are confused as to why the youngster ‘rejected’ Real Madrid. It is understood that the player ‘got tired of waiting’ and opted United over Real.
However, it is also claimed that Madrid simply did not want to match the €50 million offered by INEOS. With no real ‘alternative’ left in the market for Yoro, it is unclear what Real will do to make up for the missed target.
Fans in cloud nine as Man United ‘outbid’ Real Madrid
It isn’t every other day that Real Madrid have to let go of a player they set their sights on. Despite securing the signature of Kylian Mbappe on a ‘free’ and going after Trent Alexander-Arnold, missing out on Yoro was not something Los Blancos saw coming. An excited United fan claimed that their club have surpassed Madrid in terms of ‘pull’.
Another added that this is the first time United have acted quickly in the transfer market. Some were still in disbelief that the the player ended up choosing Manchester United over Real. Fans couldn’t have been more excited to witness Yoro and Lisandro Martinez coming at the back to solidify their defense. Even though most of the comments praised United for their business, a few were worried that Madrid were the real winners in this scenario.
Laughing at United, a Madrid fan claimed that their club just overpaid for a teenager who had just one year left on his contract. He also added that INEOS were just as ‘immature’ as the Glazers when it came to doing business in the transfer market. However, some fans were hoping for the best and suggested that the arrival of Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee will only make things better.
