Moroccan international and Manchester United star Noussair Mazraoui is set to be out for the next two months. He has undergone a heart procedure, as he adds to manager Erik ten Hag’s worries, increasing his selection problems.

Noussair Mazraoui was replaced at half-time by Victor Lindelof, during the club’s 0-0 draw against Aston Villa last weekend, due to exhaustion. He subsequently pulled out of the Moroccan national team for the October international break, complaining of heart pain. He has since then undergone a minor corrective heart procedure for cardiac arrhythmia. The Moroccan defender is now expected to be on the club’s sidelines for the next two months or even more.

Manchester United sources confirmed that the right-back’s heart problem is a relatively ‘minor’ one. He is set to quickly recover from the condition. This is not the first time that the 26-year-old defender has suffered from such a heart condition. In March 2023, Mazaraoui was sidelined for three months due to inflammation in his pericardium, from the Bayern Munich squad, after being infected with COVID-19. The defender had completed his move to United this summer, for £12.8 million.

Manchester United already has a number of players out on the sidelines, and the Moroccan adds to the club’s lack of full-backs this season. Harry Maguire, Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho are the players who have recently sustained injuries.

He was left injured in the first half against Aston Villa, before being replaced by Matthijs de Ligt. The English defender informed fans that he was frustrated to pick-up a muscle injury last weekend. He also exclaimed that he would be out for a few weeks until he recovers. Maguire is set to miss the club’s next few matches, against Brentford and Fenerbahce.

Maguire will be joined by Alejandro Garnacho, who most recently opted out of the Argentinian national team due to knee problems. Meanwhile, United’s defensive woes continue with Leny Yoro, Tyrell Malacia, and Luke Shaw also out with injuries.
