Manchester United and Erik ten Hag have found it difficult to establish a good run of form in recent times. The Red Devils have endured one of their worst starts to a season in recent times and have only managed to gather 8 points from 7 games. However, players that left the club last season have fared particularly well, with Scott McTominay and David de Gea leading the list.

Both McTominay and De Gea flew to Italy as they signed with SSC Napoli and Fiorentina respectively. The former was shipped off on a permanent deal to make space for new signing Manuel Ugarte. Despite his importance to the squad, fans were positive about bringing in a talent like Ugarte. However, things took a turn when McTominay picked up form and Ugarte began to struggle.

As for De Gea, the Spaniard was let go by the club as he remained a free agent for over a season. After finally signing for Fiorentina, the player has made a number of noticeable appearances, which included two penalty saves in a single game.

Fans cited the names of several other players who started performing well after parting ways with Erik ten Hag and United. De Gea recently helped Fiorentina pick up a thrilling 2-1 win over AC Milan, making two massive penalty saves.
