Manchester United have time and again given reason for fans to believe that this season isn’t really theirs. From an early exit in the Champions League to a never-ending series of losses in the Premier League firmly places United’s season as one of the most disastrous ones in recent years. Adding to the long list of defeats is the most recent one against Crystal Palace.
The Red Devils were clearly second best when it came to scoring goals as exemplified by the embarrassing score line. Palace forward Michael Olise set things in motion when the No.7 got away from his marker before slotting home into the bottom right corner. Just as the first half came to a close, along came Palace’s second thanks to a thunderous near-post strike from Jean-Philippe Mateta.
In the second half, United struggled to create chances, even though the referee had to consult VAR and disallowed two goals for the Red Devils. After a third goal from Tyrick Mitchell, Olise bagged his second of the game from a mind-blowing strike from outside the box.
As the dust settles at Selhurst Park, fans are left wondering what’s next for the ‘mighty’ Manchester United.
Fans react to United’s shameful loss against Crystal Palace
Monday’s 4-0 loss to Crystal Palace was just another disappointing match for the Red Devils. As the club manages to find a way through its disappointing reality that it isn’t likely to finish above sixth, Crystal Palace became the latest club to deal them a killer blow. United were without reply over 90 minutes as Michael Olise and co. ‘schooled’ the Red Devils at Selhurst Park.
A fan joked that Erik ten Hag‘s latest record deserved all the praise. Following yesterday’s loss, Ten Hag became the United manager with the most losses ever in the Premier League.
Rival fans joked that they’ll fight tooth and nail to keep the Dutchman at Old Trafford. Every Man United defeat is an opportunity to bring up Ten Hag’s ‘eras come to an end’ comment and fans made sure that it was brought up.
Fans spammed pictures of a disappointed fan in the stands as he mirrored the feelings of every United fan. Chelsea, who spent a significant part of the season under United, now find themselves a spot above the Red Devils.
This resulted in Chelsea fans having a go at the Reds, making fun of their disastrous campaign. As it stands, United are in 8th position and are set to have their worst season ever in the last ten years! With Ten Hag’s latest comments about his squad, as per the fans, things aren’t looking good for next season either.
