In what is expected to be a feisty clash, Manchester United will face Jose Mourinho‘s Fenerbahce in UEFA Europa League. The Red Devils will travel to the Turkish capital during one of their eight group stage matches in the new-look Europa League.
The UEL draw in Monaco confirmed a clash between the two giants, also marking a reunion for newly appointed Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho and the Red Devils. Apart from the Turkish side, Erik ten Hag‘s side are also set to face Rangers, PAOK, Bodo/Glimt and Twente at home, and Porto, Viktoria Plzen and Steaua Bucharest away. Meanwhile, Fenerbahce has been pitted against notable sides such as Lyon, AZ, Athletic Bilbao and Slavia Prague.
Mourinho is set to face his former side, whom he had guided to Europa League triumph in 2017. He parted ways with the Red Devils in 2018, owing to differences and controversies with both fans and players. The 61-year-old then went on to join Tottenham, before being sacked again. He arrived at Fenerbahce this season after his Roma exit, and is now expected to lead the Turkish giants to glory, after having missed out on the title by three points last season.

The Portuguese manager is often dubbed the ‘Special One’ for his brilliant managerial career, during which he won every major trophy. A number of United stars are also expected to rekindle their moments with Mourinho, when the two sides meet later this year.
Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce secure loan deal for ex-Manchester United midfielder Sofyan Amrabat
Fenerbahce has successfully secured a loan deal for ex-Red Devils midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, who joins from Serie A side Fiorentina. The Italian club will receive €2 million as a loan fee. The deal also carries a €13 million obligation to buy.
The Moroccan midfielder, who had played for United last season, was not brought back by the club, who in turn opted to sign PSG’s Manuel Ugarte. Despite being linked to Napoli, Atletico Madrid and Everton for the past few weeks, Amrabat decided to join the Turkish giants. He is set to travel to Istanbul to undergo his medical, before finalizing the move.
