Premier League: Manchester United vs Liverpool Player Ratings as the Reds thrash United at Old Trafford
Manchester United had a nightmare game at Old Trafford as they lost by 5 goals to Liverpool. Salah scored an amazing hattrick, Jota and Keita also scored goals. In the entire game, Liverpool never allowed United to get back in the game. Also, in the 2nd half, Pogba’s red card left them with 10 men army which also jolted United’s hope.
Here are the player ratings from the match between Manchester United and Liverpool.
Manchester United
David De Gea (GK) (5/10): A day to forget for De Gea as a goalkeeper. He conceded 4 goals inside the 1st half and some of his passes were not so accurate leading to loss of possession.
Luke Shaw (6/10): Both on and off the ball, Shaw was looking patchy. With only 71% passing accuracy, he was finding it difficult to stop Salah, Keita, and Henderson from getting in attacking positions.
Harry Maguire (5/10): Since his comeback after injury, he is unable to settle himself. His touches are sloppy and also at Liverpool’s attacking situation, he is unable to place himself at proper positions.
Victor Lindelof (6/10): At the center back position, Lindelof had 76% pass accuracy was often dispossessed by Milner and Henderson.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka (5/10): Similar to Maguire, Wan – Bissaka looked out of sorts with his passes and positioning. He was struggling to block Mane and Salah.
Fred (7/10): In the midfield, Fred made some great passes and he was able to create some good opportunities for Fernandes, Greenwood, and Ronaldo.
Scott McTominay (7/10): McTominay made excellent movements in the opposition defense and also at the defensive position, he made some good blocks, interceptions and had 88% passing accuracy.
Marcus Rashford (6/10): Rashford couldn’t create many chances in the game for Manchester United. He had only 67% passing and often found it difficult to create chances with Ronaldo and Fernandes.
Bruno Fernandes (7/10): Throughout the game, Fernandes looked like the best player for United. In the attacking situations, he was swift with his movements and positioning, also he had 100% passing accuracy.
Mason Greenwood (7/10): Throughout the game, Greenwood was sensational with his runs in the spaces. He had a shot on goal and also made some key passes.
Cristiano Ronaldo (6/10): Ronaldo had an ordinary day on the field. He had some good passes from the midfield and defense but couldn’t penetrate Liverpool’s defense.
Substitutes:
Paul Pogba (5/10): A day to forget for Pogba. He brought in as a tactical change to bring more possession with ball for United. But after playing for just 14 minutes he received a red card.
Diogo Dalot (7/10): He came from bench at 62nd minute to create more chances for United but couldn’t create any effective chance.
Edinson Cavani (7/10): Cavani replaced Fernandes and he looked in excellent form. He made some great passes and was close to score for United.
Liverpool
Alisson Becker (GK) (7/10): Alisson had nothing much to do but he made 3 good saves. Also, his passes were very good and helped in building the attacking chances for Liverpool.
Andrew Robertson (7/10): Robertson was very intact with his passing and creating spaces on the pitch. He made two important interceptions to stop Ronaldo and Greenwood’s build-up.
Virgil Van Dijk (7/10): At the center-back position, Dijk was spot on to track down Ronaldo’s movements and also intercepted opportunities created by Greenwood and Rashford.
Ibrahima Konate (7/10): Konate was very good tactically as a center back. He won important tackles to deny Fernandes chances and also had 85% passing accuracy.
Trent Alexander-Arnold (8/10): He provided an amazing assist to Jota in scoring the 2nd goal for Liverpool. Throughout the game from defense, he created some great build-ups with Keita.
James Milner (7/10): Milner was very active and had an excellent game in attacking the front, making some key passes. But because of injury, he was subbed off in the 26th minute.
Jordan Henderson (8/10): Henderson looked amazing in both attacking and defensive build-up on the pitch. He had 98% passing accuracy and never allowed the United defense to settle down.
Naby Keita (9/10): With the ball, Keita was excellent. He won some tough challenges scored the opening and provided a brilliant assist to Salah helping him score his 1st goal of the match.
Diego Jota (8/10): At left-wing, Jota was outstanding with his passing and positioning with and without the ball. He scored an outstanding goal and also provided assistance to Salah for his 2nd goal.
Roberto Firmino (7/10): Firmino was well positioned and made some great supporting runs with Salah and Jota. With 83% passing accuracy, he was very good in build-up play with Henderson and Keita.
Mohamed Salah (10/10): A day to cherish for Salah at Old Trafford. He scored an amazing hattrick which helped Liverpool secure an emphatic win over Manchester United.
Substitutes:
Curtis Jones (7/10): After just 26 minutes in the game, due to Milner’s injury, Jones was brought in and he did very well in the midfield. He had 96% passing accuracy and some great build-ups with Henderson and Keita.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (7/10): Chamberlain came as a substitute for Keita in the 64th minute. He was looked confident with the ball and made some great chances for Alexander-Arnold and Salah to score goals.
Sadio Mane (7/10): In the last 13 minutes of play, Mane was brought in to provide more attacking threat to United defense. In his short stint, he had a shot on goal and had 100% passing accuracy.
