Carlos Alcaraz might have experienced ups and downs during the clay season, but clinching the French Open was enough to forget the off days. The Spaniard became the youngest player to win a Grand Slam on three different surfaces. However, the ‘consistency’ question still remains around Alcaraz.

The 21-year-old won his second title of the season after missing the Monte Carlo and Italian Open due to a forearm injury. He was aiming to become the first man to win three consecutive Madrid Open, but he failed to do it because of the persistent pain in his forearm.

Last year after winning Wimbledon, Alcaraz failed to win any other title and reached one final. He had the privilege to overtake Novak Djokovic in the No.1 position but also failed to maintain that for long. This season he has reached two finals from a possible six. On the other hand, Djokovic and Rafael Nadal maintained consistency in their game at the same age which made them one of the greatest players of all Time.

Nadal consistency saw him win 14 French Open titles, losing four times in the tournament, while Djokovic won 24 major titles in 16 years. Despite Alcaraz winning the French Open, Marc Rosset is hoping the 21-year-old can find more consistency in his game like the two greats.

I like his game, but I will like it even more when there are fewer air holes! When he has consistency like Djoko or Nadal, it will be great.

Alcaraz has a chance to prove his doubters wrong at the upcoming Wimbledon. The three-time Grand Slam champion is hoping to add another major silverware to his trophy cabinet.

One pair, which I think everyone knows and was hoping for, is Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal. Rafa and Carlos will be playing together in Paris.

Nadal won an Olympic gold in Beijing in 2008 and doubles gold in 2016 in Rio. It will be Alcaraz’s Olympic debut at the Paris Games.
