Marco Verratti: We are obliged to win
Marco Verratti, the Paris St Germain midfielder, believes that the club are obliged to win the title in Ligue 1 and it is what that drives the team to win the games. Paris St Germain won their last game against FC Metz on Saturday after they trounced the opposition by 3-1 scoreline. Kylian Mbappe scored a brace for his side whereas Mauro Icardi scored in the 89th minute to seal the game.
What did Marco Verratti opine about the Ligue 1 and PSG’s title race?
The French outfit were clinical against FC Metz in the 33rrd Gameweek of the Ligue 1. Four teams can still win the tournament and it is what that is keeping the title race alive. Marco Verratti hasn’t featured many times in the league as the player was tested positive twice for COVID-19. Also, the player’s season was marred with injuries throughout the tournament. Inspite of all these, the player has six assists to his name.
Talking to RMC Sport, Marco Verratti said that there is a happy mood within the club ahead of the Champions League fixture against Manchester City. The team are performing better according to the midfielder and said:
We are somewhat obliged to win. We have a plan which is to win the most matches possible. The others will play and will make their way. We will see who comes first. It's an incredible championship, one of the prettiest. There are still four teams that can win the title, that's why we can't make any mistakes. Today we played a serious game, we won and we deserved it. We are happy
Paris St Germain stand in the pole position but have played an extra game compared to fellow contenders like Lille and Monaco. PSG will face Lens, Rennes, Reims and Briest in the final four games of the season.
