Marcus Rashford tweeted that he had a secret planned. It turns out that his secret planned was an interview with The Sun. This act of his angered many of Liverpool’s fans and people started to criticize him for that. Their main argument everyone in Britain knows how depraved of a newspaper The Sun is and yet he went to interview with them.
Wrong choice of a newspaper
The Sun became a notorious newspaper when it placed the blame on Liverpool supporters for the Hillsborough disaster. 96 people died on the day because of the negligence of the police present in the stadium. Yet The Sun published article upon article demonizing the 96 people who died. They made it like the Liverpool fans had killed themselves. They fully put the blame on the dead for dying.
This resulted in a huge blackout all over Liverpool as fans of Liverpool and Everton came together to ban the newspaper. You will never find a copy of The Sun in any part of Liverpool and no one calls it by its name. The name is a taboo there and no one speaks of it. The Daily Mail and The Sun became known for their xenophobic and racist news. Raheem Sterling, Paul Pogba and Mohamed Salah have all had their names tarnished by these two. Football fans all over the country hate these newspapers and it pained them that Rashford had associated himself with them.
They accused him of being friends with Raheem Sterling and yet not bothering with how they demonized him for being black. They accused him of conveniently forgetting facts to further his agenda. Despite the fact that his agenda is a positive one, there are somethings he must never do. One of them is associating himself with The Sun.
Now he has deleted his original tweet and tweeted Sky News on this. Yet it is useless as Liverpool supporters are not going to accept this. Their respect has lessened, but it is still there.
