Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes share excitement as Manchester United star Tyrell Malacia makes return from injury after 517 days
Tyrell Malacia's absence was once a cause of worry among the Manchester United faithful, now that he's back, the smiles have returned.

Manchester United full-back Tyrell Malacia made his long-awaited return to the pitch, after a gap of almost 517 days. Fellow United stars Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes shared messages following his recent return for the under-21s, showing excitement.
Tyrell Malacia was one of former United boss Erik ten Hag’s first signings, arriving for £15 million from Feyenoord. The highly-rated Dutch left-back, could, however, make only 39 appearances for United before getting injured. Malacia has had knee surgery twice, keeping him out of action for the last two seasons. He last played in a competitive game for Netherlands, against Croatia in the 2023 Nations League semi-finals. In his and Luke Shaw‘s absence, Ten Hag was forced to play Diogo Dalot at left-back.
The 25-year-old full-back has now made his return to training and hopes to make his comeback to the senior side soon. He, most recently, featured for 45 minutes in an under-21 match for United, against Huddersfield City in the EFL Trophy. However, Man Utd went on to suffer a disastrous 4-1 defeat. United posted a picture of his return to fitness, to which teammates Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes excitedly reacted. Rashford responded by commenting ‘Twinn’, while Bruno replied with a ‘heart’ emoji.

A lot has changed in the Man Utd camp, however, since Tyrell Malacia’s injury 17 months ago. With new manager Ruben Amorim having arrived from Sporting CP, it remains to be seen whether the 25-year-old left-back regains his spot in the starting XI.
How could Manchester United line up following Tyrell Malacia’s return and Ruben Amorim’s arrival?
Portuguese manager Ruben Amorim, who replaced Erik ten Hag at Manchester United, looks all set to take up the reins. His first match in charge of the Red Devils will be against Ipswich Town in the Premier League, after the end of the ongoing international break.

He has received a major boost in the form of Tyrell Malacia, who has returned from injury. Amorim could implement his famous 3-4-3 formation, with Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martinez at the back. He might opt for Noussair Mazraoui and Luke Shaw on the wings. Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte or Casemiro could start in the midfield.
Upfront, he could choose Alejandro Garnacho, Bruno Fernandes and Rasmus Hojlund. With United languishing in the 13th position on the EPL table, Amorim will be charged with turning the club’s fortunes around. However, his arrival has led to the departure of interim boss, Ruud van Nistelrooy.
