In an unfortunate turn of events the New York Yankees ended up giving the first series sweep to the Cincinnati Reds following their latest game of Thursday. The Yanks lost 8-4 against the Reds, mostly the blame getting directed toward pitcher Marcus Stroman and center fielder Trent Grisham.
The team’s slump continues as fans question their chance of getting a playoff berth. GM Aaron Boone addressed the issue with the team rotation, pointing out how the pitches have lately contributed to HRs a lot in the games. “A lot of our mistakes are ending up in the seats. It’s spoiling some outings,” he said.
Marcus Stroman’s struggle once again failed to boost the team to victory, although Grisham’s defensive error invited boos from the stands. Stroman on the other hand, made his fourth shaky performance in six starts. His ERA has risen quite a hit as it now stands at 3.58 from 2.73 in six starts.
Regardless, he pointed out the challenges he’s facing saying, “I’ve got to do better,” as the pitcher believes “I didn’t do my job.” Stroman further added how Elly De La Cruz has become a distraction because of his base-stealing ability. As Stroman says,
He for sure takes a lot of focus. It feels like he steals bases very easily, so you have to have a priority on time slide steps, so you end up losing your focus on the hitter a little bit.Marcus Stroman as per Michael Bennington of PinStripesNation.

Although De La Cruz is proving to be a challenge for the NY pitcher, other Yankees players are also facing issues being their 100%. Despite Grisham’s error, Boone supported him saying he believes he’ll do better next time.
Trent Grisham’s costly error speeds up NY Yankees downfall against Reds
Trent Grisham’s error in the ninth inning of Thursday’s game cost the New York Yankees their game. Although their 8-4 loss was a collective of mistakes, Grisham’s blunder took the spotlight.
Grisham acknowledged his mistake in judgment of a hit by Jeimer Candelario and regretted his decision. The 27-year-old said,
I just played back on it as opposed to coming to get it. I just made a mistake. It’s frustrating in that situation.Trent Grisham as per Michael Bennington of PinStripesNation.

Despite the team’s struggles, Aaron Boone defended his overall play style noting how he usually approaches the game in a calm and composed manner. Regardless, the ongoing issues with the team mostly come down to the pitching.
The pitchers have allowed several HRs resulting in the team’s downfall. How they’ll improve on it is yet to be seen. Maybe in the next game, the fans will see some positive developments.
