Margaret Court won’t be surprised if Novak Djokovic breaks the 24 Grand Slam tie. But she is convinced that her record of combined singles and doubles Grand Slam trophies (64) will never be broken.
Court clinched 24 Singles Grand Slam titles (both in the amateur and Open Era). In women’s doubles, her tally was 19, while in the mixed doubles, it’s 21. Djokovic has never won a title in Grand Slam doubles.
The 24, I won’t be surprised if it’s beaten. But the 64, I don’t think it ever will be… Whatever tennis does, it can never take away what I’ve done.
Margaret Court told The Telegraph
Djokovic hasn’t yet won a Major since the 2023 US Open. After clinching his record 24th Major, he has played just one Grand Slam final, at the 2024 Wimbledon, losing that match to Carlos Alcaraz.
This season, the 38-year-old suffered defeats in the semifinals of all Majors. At the Australian Open, an injury forced him to give the walkover to eventual runner-up Alexander Zverev.
Djokovic then lost to Jannik Sinner at the French Open and Wimbledon, while at the US Open, Alcaraz ended his run. The Serbian great finished the season as No.4 with two ATP 250 titles, which he clinched at the Geneva Open and the Hellenic Championship, by defeating Hubert Hurkacz and Lorenzo Musetti.
He also skipped the ATP Finals for the second consecutive time. Apart from the aforementioned finals, Djokovic also reached the championship clash of the Miami Open but couldn’t end his Big Title drought, losing the match to the Czech Republic’s Jakub Mensik.
The last Big Title that the Serb won was the Olympic gold medal last year in Paris by defeating Alcaraz. Djokovic’s dream retirement event is the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, but he is well aware of the obstacles on his path at this stage of his career.
Novak Djokovic on what he has been doing during the off-season
Novak Djokovic is actively working on how he can prolong his career and challenge the dominance of Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz. Since 2024, only Sinner and Alcaraz have emerged triumphant in Grand Slam events, with Djokovic losing to them on five occasions (last year, he lost to Sinner at the Australian Open and Alcaraz at Wimbledon).

Even though Djokovic is struggling a lot due to his age, the tennis world knows that it is impossible to write him off. His 2024 Paris Olympic campaign clearly proves that. Djokovic even knocked out Alcaraz in the quarterfinal of this year’s Australian Open. During his recent interview with Sky Sports, Djokovic shed light on his positive mindset, revealing that he is working a lot to reconstruct his body, which only explains that he can go to any extent to fulfill his 25 Grand Slam title dream.
I’ve been getting injured more often than not in the last 18 months, so I’m trying to rebuild my body so that the start of the next season will be great and, hopefully, I can keep it up with the best guys… It is a multisensory wellness capsule pod that resets your batteries in the shortest amount of time, which is eight minutes.
Many believe Djokovic’s best chance of winning his 25th Major is at the Australian Open, as it’s here he took home 10 titles, the most in the history of men’s tennis. The last time he won here was in 2023, by defeating Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas. Djokovic is also a dominant force at Wimbledon, given that he has played 10 finals, winning seven titles, the last of which came in 2022 against Nick Kyrgios.
