Former Russian tennis ace Maria Sharapova attended the 2024 Met Gala and caught attention with her fairytale dress. The former World No. 1 then also recorded herself while looking out for her longtime rival and women’s tennis legend Serena Willimas. Sharapova shared a video wherein she could be seen looking out Williams who was also at the event.

The Russian who enjoyed a great rivalry with Serena on the tennis court caught up with the Williams sisters at the fashion event. She first caught up with Venus Williams and asked where Serena was. Sharapova recorded her and Venus looking out for the 23-time Grand Slam champion.

She finally caught up with Serena Williams but this time Venus was missing and Sharapova highlighted this as well. The Russian shared a video of her and Serena looking for the elder Williams. Sharapova also wrote a caption for both the videos. While she wrote “@serenawilliams where are you” for the first video, she wrote, “I can’t get the sisters together this year” for the second one.

Gurung worked with a natural fiber, cotton for the first time in the Atelier collection and he was “pleasantly surprised” by the experience of working with cotton, specifically calling out the fabric’s softness, movement, and texture.

Meanwhile, Sharapova was thrilled to wear something designed by a special artist. The Russian ace was in line with the theme for this year’s Gala. She also talked about the dress’ significance.

Prabal has designed such beautiful pieces for the Met Gala in previous years, so it felt like a very natural choice and very much in theme with this year’s Met Gala, which is all about reawakening and flowers and the forest. While the theme has a fairytale like aspect to it, it is also about gardens, florals, and our earth.

Notably, this was the Russian’s fourth Met Gala appearance and Sharapova slayed the look. While her dress was all about flowers and greenery, Sharapova was happy that some associated with the green color of tennis balls. After all, it all starts and ends with tennis for the 37-year-old.
