While Sharapova admires Williams and hopes for a good relationship after their professional careers, their head-to-head record heavily favors the American. Sharapova trailed 2-20 against the 23-time singles Grand Slam champion.

Sharapova’s only two victories over Williams came in the 2004 Wimbledon final and the 2004 WTA Championships final. Initially, the Russian star led their head-to-head 2-1 until the end of 2004. However, after that, Serena Williams dominated with an unbeaten streak of 19 consecutive wins.

Now 37 years old, Sharapova has retired from competitive tennis. She is now engaged with British businessman Alexander Gilkes, with whom she has a son named Theodore. They were invited to the royal box to watch the matches at Wimbledon.

During her career peak, the Russian star was known for her blonde hair, but she now sports brunette hair. Despite the cloudy weather, she wore dark sunglasses while watching Daniil Medvedev play Alexandre Muller in the day’s first match.
