Maria Sharapova will be inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2025. She turned pro in 2001 and is one of the 10 women to complete a career singles Grand Slam and achieve No.1 in the rankings.

Apart from the former World No.1, the Bryan Brothers (Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan) will also be inducted into the Hall of Fame. The Bryan Brothers remain the most successful doubles pair in the history of men’s tennis as together they have won 16 Grand Slam titles and remained on top of the rankings for a record 438 weeks.

Beyond each of their historic accomplishments on the court, the Class of 2025 have had such a profound impact on the game of tennis and have inspired multiple generations of fans across the world.

Kim Clijsters, President of the International Tennis Hall of Fame stated

Bob and Mike, who turned pro in 1998 and retired in 2020, also clinched seven and four Grand Slam titles in mixed doubles respectively. The pair won multiple Olympic medals, including a gold in the 2012 London Olympics.

Maria Sharapova expresses excitement after being elected into the Tennis Hall of Fame

A total of 267 players from 28 countries were inducted into the Tennis Hall of Fame in the past. Maria Sharapova was excited after she heard the news and recalled the time when she won her first Grand Slam title as she was very happy when asked for a dress to ‘showcase in the museum‘.

In retirement, you very seldomly get to reflect on your past, because you move on so quickly with life’s responsibilities. This is an incredible recognition. Thank you so much. I’m so grateful to the Hall of Fame and grateful to the voters.

The Russian spent 408 weeks in the Top 5 and won 36 titles, which also includes five Grand Slam trophies. She won the Australian Open in 2008, Wimbledon in 2004, and the US Open in 2006 and won the French Open twice (in 2012 and 2014).

The 37-year-old also won the WTA Finals in 2004 and took home the Olympic silver medal after losing to Serena Williams in the final of the 2012 London Olympics. She also lifted three doubles titles.
