The Seattle Mariners are reuniting with Eugenio Suarez. On Wednesday night, multiple reports emerged that the team have agreed on a trade deal of the 2-time MLB All-Star from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for three top prospects in Tyler Locklear, Hunter Cranton, and Juan Burgos.
Suarez had been one of the biggest names during this deadline. The 33-year-old has, time and again, displayed his power with the bat this year.
His 36 home runs this season are the 5th most by any player in the league, just behind power-hitters Shohei Ohtani, Aaron Judge, Cal Raleigh, and Kyle Schwarber. He has batted with an average of .248 while having an OPS of .896.
Before this move, his name was linked with several teams, including the New York Yankees. After acquiring Josh Naylor from the Diamondbacks last week, the Mariners were reported to be confident of landing Suarez as well amid other interests.
Those reports have now true. Suarez, who played for the Mariners during the 2022 and the 2023 season, will now return to Seattle and represent them in the 2nd half of the 2025 season.

Suarez was initially signed as an amateur free agent by the Detroit Tigers in 2008 and made his MLB debut with them in 2014. After finishing his rookie season with a 242 batting average, 4 home runs and 23 RBIs in 85 games, he would join the Cincinnati Reds in 2015.
He would spend 7 seasons with the Reds, with 2019 being one of his best ones. That year, the Venezuelan international hit 49 home runs, drove in 103 runs, while hitting at a .271 average. In his first stint with the Mariners, Suarez smashed 53 home runs and had 183 RBIs.
Social media reacts to Eugenio Suarez being traded to the Mariners
The Seattle Mariners have added another top name to their offense. After landing 2024 All-Star Josh Naylor a few days ago, they have now brought in Eugenio Suarez from the Arizona Diamondbacks in a trade while giving away some of the top prospects.

MLB fans on social media would go into a frenzy when the news of his trade broke out. Several users on X celebrated his move of Suarez while some trolled the teams who missed out on him. One enthusiastic fan wrote, “Seattle is back baby” while reacting to this development.
