Serbian tennis legend Novak Djokovic is out of sporting action due to injury. The 37-year-old had to pull out of the 2024 Roland Garros midway through the tournament due to the same injury and Djokovic now faces a threat of missing out on the 2024 Wimbledon championships as well.

The surgeon who treated Djokovic’s muscle tear claimed that the Serbian would not be ready to get back to action in three weeks. However, former French tennis player Marion Bartoli has contradicted Djokovic’s surgeon and has claimed otherwise.

She has predicted that the 24-time Grand Slam champion who is a seven-time Wimbledon champion will be back in time for the grass-court Grand Slam tournament. Bartoli claims that she has insider information about Djokovic’s recovery and thus, is confident about the 37-year-old returning to action.

You know I know the physiotherapist who takes care of Novak's rehabilitation well, he worked at Olympique de Marseille and what I can tell you is that internally what he says is that there is a greater chance that Djokovic will play Wimbledon than the other way around...so we must stop thinking that he will not play at Wimbledon. And if he finally plays of course he will be one of the two favorites.
Marion Bartoli said on RMC Sport.

Chances bleak for Novak Djokovic despite Marion Bartoli’s claims

Although Marion Bartoli has gone on to claim that Novak Djokovic will be fit for the 2024 Wimbledon championships, the chances of the same happening look bleak as of now. Although Djokovic has started training again, recovering from a meniscus tear within three weeks is an impossible task even by Djokovic’s standards.

The Serbian’s surgeon has already warned against rushing his comeback and former ATP player Nicolas Almagro has a similar advice for Djokovic. Almagro, who also suffered almost the same injury and had to prematurely end his career has warned the 24-time Grand Slam champion against hurrying his comeback.

Almagro said that although Djokovic showed great strength to stand and win the match despite suffering the injury, he must not do anything to aggravate it. He also predicted that Djokovic will not play at Wimbledon.

I think he won’t be at Wimbledon and we’ll see how he fares for the Games if he does [play]. He doesn’t have to be in a hurry because although it seems like an easy injury, it’s not. Look, Roger, he had a similar injury and he had knee surgery, it was going to last a month and in the end he retired. It’s apparently simple, but you have to be careful so that things don’t get complicated.

It is to be seen now if Djokovic will rush his comeback or if he will wait for the right time to return to the tour. With the 2024 Paris Olympics in sight, the Serbian would want to avoid another mishap like this.
