With billions coming in from new media rights deals, leagues like the NBA and NFL are filling up their coffers. Networks wanting to make more than that back are recruiting the best of the best broadcasters. This explains why NFL GOAT Tom Brady signed a $375 million deal to analyze games. With Shaquille O’Neal and the crew of Inside the NBA set for a bidding war, Mark Cuban feels the numbers will blow up.

The minority owner of the Dallas Mavericks was a guest on The Big Podcast with Shaq. When host and Inside the NBA Tuesday’s host Adam Lefkoe asked Cuban’s reaction to the show about to close, he weighed in on the same.

I think you guys will get paid more. I think just the demand for known names and shows that people are confident and comfortable with, that’s invaluable. Particularly to new streaming platforms that are trying to establish themselves. I think your guys are going to be tripling the Tom Brady contract.

Mark Cuban said

As he said this, Shaquille O’Neal first had a wide smile on his face. Then when the Tom Brady and his FOX contract reference was made, he emoted a shocked and happy face. The Big Aristotle understood all too well what that meant. As Tom Brady‘s FOX contract is worth $375 million, tripling that would mean the quartet will be looking at a little more than a billion dollars in salaries alone.

Already colleague Charles Barkley is making approximately $200 million from TNT. Even if he rips off that contract after TNT’s contract with the NBA expires after next season, he could be worth a lot more. Barkley has already stated that he left a lot more money to honor his current contract.

Shaquille O’Neal wants Inside the NBA crew to make Rudy Gobert money

Barkley might be able to garner a $300 million contract considering his demand. But that still leaves the rest of the crew with more than $800 million to distribute.

I want motherf****ing Rudy Gobert numbers! If I don’t get the Rudy Gobert, Shaq ain’t going nowhere.

Shquille O’Neal asserted

This goes to show that the four-time champion is quick with numbers. He calculated on the fly what Mark Cuban was suggesting and then compared it with the $200 million contract of Rudy Gobert.

The humorous ode to the French star’s name suggests it has become his go-to reference for an easy $200 million. O’Neal jokingly used that reference to suggest he wants that amount for whoever wants to hire him for their crew.

It is possible that the former league MVP might garner such numbers, as he has a strong fan following and is in demand for his humor and analysis. When TNT’s contract expires, expect the big man to be busy with interviews and negotiations.
