Mark Henry is a veteran of the professional wrestling industry and has been performing since 1996. He has been a part of several wrestling promotions throughout the years, including his most recent stint in AEW. The World’s Strongest Man recently made a return appearance at WWE alongside his son, Jacob, who is looking forward to continuing his father’s legacy in the business.
The latest episode of Raw showed Henry sitting in the front row alongside his son. This episode emanated from Texas, the 53-year-old’s home state. He received a huge pop from the crowd while being shown on screen and was called a “Busted Open Legend” by Pat McAfee, referring to his involvement on the Busted Open Radio podcast.
Mark Henry signed a multi-year contract with AEW in 2021. Although he never wrestled for the promotion, he worked there as an announcer, scout, and coach for the talent. He chose not to renew his contract with the company when it came to an end earlier this year, in May. Since then, he has been a free agent, which allowed him to appear on Raw.
Furthermore, it was recently announced that Henry’s son, Jacob, has signed with WWE. The Hall of Famer’s son is a collegiate wrestler at the University of Texas and has also dabbled in football and track & field. The son of the World’s Strongest Man recently displayed his strength by posting a video of himself on social media, where he could be seen squatting over 600 pounds.
Braun Strowman credits Mark Henry for his success in WWE
Mark Henry has done an incredible job as a scout for wrestling talent. Although he never officially had that role in WWE, his list of proteges includes Bron Breaker, Jade Cargill, Bianca Belair, and many more. He has also shown a lot of trust in Carmelo Hayes. In fact, Henry was the man responsible for scouting the Monster Among Men, Braun Strowman, who had a ton of gratitude for the former World Heavyweight Champion.
Speaking on the Busted Open Radio, Strowman revealed that Henry saw something in him when he was just a hungry young kid who was lost and didn’t know what to do with his life. However, the former AEW star put his name on the line and got him a tryout. He even picked him up at the airport and took him out to dinner.
Put his name on the line, got me down, got me a try-out, picked me up at the airport, was there for my try-out, took me out to dinner, took me out for some extra-curricular activities afterwards we’ll leave it at that.

Braun Strowman thanked the Lord every day for the people who had helped him get where he was. Henry did not give him anything easily. However, he gave him the necessary tools and got the door open for him. From then on, the former Universal Champion had to go and do the work for himself.
