This week on SmackDown, AJ Styles deceived everyone with his fake retirement promo. What felt like the last glimpses of the Phenomenal One turned out to be a trap for none other than Cody Rhodes. However, fans quickly noticed the similarity of this segment with a segment featuring Mark Henry in 2013. Keeping that in mind, the World’s Strongest Man reacted to this on X.

WWE Hall of Famer mentioned AJ Styles for being exceptionally good at fooling out the fans. He revealed that he is proud of the former WWE Champion for being so accurate with the segment. In fact, Henry quickly grasped the similarity between his promo and Styles’ promo and the actions thereafter.

For context, in 2013, Mark Henry also did the same thing. He planned a fake retirement segment and even went on to call out John Cena. However, even that also ended in the same fashion as this week’s SmackDown, with the champion being destroyed by the challenger. AJ Styles viciously ambushed the American Nightmare and went on to make a statement for his next step in the company, just like Henry did more than a decade ago.

Besides, the hellacious attempts of the Phenomenal One didn’t stop after the show. He went on to deliver some more beatings to Cody Rhodes. It has become highly likely that the two stars might collide at Clash at the Castle in Scotland later this month. It is going to be the second encounter between these two in the span of two months.

Taking the matter to X, Brandi expressed her anger over the former WWE Champion by calling it a shameless act. She meant to ask for some respect for her husband’s trust, which was broken by Styles on SmackDown. Therefore, the former AEW star vented her anger on social media.
