Vegas Golden Knight’s captain Mark Stone will not be on the ice for the game against Seattle Kraken on Friday night. The captain is reported to have suffered a lower-body injury and is currently day-to-day.

While the team has started off the 2024-25 regular season with a blast, Stone seems to be dueling with his injuries. Last season he suffered from a ruptured spleen during the NHL Trade Deadline.

However, he returned to the lineup in time for the playoffs. His injuries and visit to the IL drew controversies as some suspected the team might be gaining cap space due to this.

While the captain was placed on the injured list for the long term, the cap space freed up for the team to use to trade for players. In the March deadline, the Vegas Golden Knights used it to add Noah Hanifin, Tomas Hertl, and others. Stone returned to join the playoffs leading many to question whether the team is manipulating the cap salary.

However, the noise drowned out eventually. Following his injury track, Stone also underwent back surgery twice in 13 months before the 2023-24 season. He also suffered from lower-body injuries.

It is unclear whether all the wear and tear is making the 32-year-old captain head into IL frequently or not. Despite the sad news, Mark Stone has maintained his status as one of the best in NHL. He has recorded 21 points in 6 goals and 15 assists in 13 games this season.

It is unclear when the captain received the injury. However, he seemed to be in discomfort during a faceoff against the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday. The Vegas Golden Knights have performed well until now. They’ve won 9 out of their first 13 games so far.
