New York Yankees’ manager Aaron Boone has found himself in hot water once again. Following the Miami Marlins’ first-ever sweep over the Bronx Bombers, more calls regarding the dismissal of Boone as the manager of the team were made on social media.

The American League East team has suffered a massive slump in recent weeks. After winning 3 games out of the 4 against the Tampa Bay Rays, the Yankees headed to Miami hoping to make ground on their division rivals, the Toronto Blue Jays and the Boston Red Sox.

In the first game of the series, the Yankees suffered a brutal loss as their new trade deadline additions imploded. The New York side, who were leading 6-0 at one point, went on to lose the game 13-12 as new trade acquisitions, Jake Bird, David Bednar, and Camilo Doval combined to give up 9 runs in 2.1 innings.

Following this loss, the Yankees were shut out 2-0 on Saturday. This loss sparked some harsh words from former Captain Derek Jeter, who expressed that the team was making too many mistakes.

On Sunday, the Yankees were hoping to avoid being on the wrong side of history. Before this game, they had never been swept in a 3-game series by the Marlins.

The NL East, though, has undergone a massive turnaround in recent weeks. At one stage of the season, the Marlins were 24-40 and seemed to be on track for another poor finish.

They have since then turned their fortunes around. A 7-3 win on Sunday not only completed a historic sweep against the Yankees, but also put them at the .500 win percentage mark with a 55-55 record.

The series loss also marked another historic feat. The Yankees, who are the most successful team in MLB history with 27 World Series championships, had a winning record against all teams in the league up until this series. With the Marlins winning the series, they are now the only team against whom they have an all-time losing record.

While speaking to the reporters after the 7-3 loss on Sunday, the 52-year-old expressed that it is getting ‘late’ for the Yankees.

It’s getting to be real gut check time. It’s getting late. It’s certainly not too late for us. I am confident that we’re going to get it together, but that’s all it is right now. It’s empty until we start doing it.

Aaron Boone told the reporters

On May 28, the Yankees had a 7-game lead at the top of the AL East Standings. Since then, they are 25-32. They will now take on the Texas Rangers in a 3-game series and be hoping to activate captain Aaron Judge from the 10-day injured list.
