Marlon Vera back in the octagon against former rival Davey Grant on June 19 for revenge
UFC Bantamweight Marlon Vera has been booked to be back in the Octagon in June. ‘Chito’ is scheduled to fight Davey Grant in a bantamweight bout at a UFC Fight Night event. Marlon Vera will look to get back on the winning column and climb up the bantamweight ranking chart.
This news was first confirmed by MMA DNA. The person who reported the news about this fixture had requested anonymity. This fight will be the first fight for Marlon Vera in the year 2021. He is currently ranked at #15 in the bantamweight division. Chito will be determined to get over his last bout which ended in defeat.
Marlon Vera is coming off a defeat against Jose Aldo at UFC Fight Night: Thompson vs. Neal. The fight was on 20th December in 2020 where he lost against Aldo via decision. Prior to that, he beat the superstar, Sean O’Malley by TKO which still the Sugar Show does not take into count. He has a record of 16-7-1.
Meanwhile his opponent Davey Grant is coming off a 3 fight consecutive winning streak beating Jonathan Martinez, Martin Day, and Grigory Popov. Grant is yet to make a big name for himself and will look to beat Vera in his upcoming bout. 2 out of his last three bouts have been by TKO/KO. There’s a reason they call him “Dangerous”.
Will Marlon Vera seek revenge this time against Davey Grant?
This isn’t the first time Marlon Vera and Davey Grant are meeting each other inside the octagon. The first time both the strikers met was at UFC Fight Night 84: Silva vs. Bisping. “Dangerous” got the better of “Chito” in that fight as he won via decision.
Both the fighters will be meeting each other after 5 years and Chito Vera will look to seek revenge against his former rival. Marlon Vera though, showed more interest in fighting a rematch against Sean O’Malley who claims to be undefeated despite being knocked out by Vera. Marlon called out the Suga Show multiple times on Twitter but O’Malley seems to be in his pursuit to call out big names.
