Despite how things are going in the New York Jets, one of Aaron Rodgers‘ loyal supporters has once again come to his defense. Having played alongside both Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen, Marquez Valdes-Scantling still considers Rodgers the “best ever” he has encountered.
The season isn’t going too well for the Jets and this time, they don’t have an excuse for the veteran quarterback’s injury. Despite being advised to retire to preserve the legacy he built in Green Bay, Rodgers continues with the 2024 season, still hoping to bounce back. Unfortunately, they currently sitting with a 3-7 record, and the upcoming matches are expected to be challenging, making their playoff dreams increasibly elusive.
Referencing his previous statement of ranking the four-time NFL MVP above the three-time Super Bowl champion, who is leading his team with an undefeated record this season; Valdes-Scantling was asked about his thoughts on whether the Jets still “got a shot” or their season wrapped up.

While claiming Rodgers is the best quarterback, he ranked the Kansas City Chiefs’ superstar Mahomes below followed by Buffalo Bills’ Allen. Valdes-Scantling also expressed his confidence in the quarterback-wide receiver duo of Rodgers and Davante Adams in New York, believing they will figure it out.
Aaron Rodgers stays hopeful amid slim Jets playoff chances
Even though the Jets’ playoff chances are extremely slim, the 40-year-old hasn’t lost hope. He shares his plan to continue playing with persistence and continue with a consistent game plan to achieve the goal of a playoff berth, regardless of how slim their chances are.
“You go back to work, preparation stays the same. Maybe it kicks up a little bit if you need to,” said Rodgers on his weekly appearance on the Pat McAfee Show.
Rodgers is moving forward with an optimistic mindset until the Jets are officially declared out of the playoff race like they were last season, he would not stop trying. He believes success does not come merely from the game-day strategy; rather, it also requires pride, humility, and thorough preparations to achieve it.
