During the matchup between the Calgary Flames and the Chicago Blackhawks, things got heated up when Martin Pospisil made contact with Taylor Hall. The Flames star would hit Hall in the back and sent him into the boards which saw him getting ejected.
The incident took place midway through the second period. With the Flames leading the game at 4-1, he would attempt to shake off Hall. Pospisil ended up boarding the Blackhawks man which resulted in Pat Maroon retaliating against him.
The 25-year-old defenseman was earlier given a 5-minute major for boarding Hall. After a short review, he was later removed from the game for his actions in this incident.
In usual boarding penalties, the players are often judged a game misconduct, meaning that they are removed from the game. The same thing happened here as Pospisil was ejected from the match by the officials.

Pospisil may get a call from the NHL Department of Player Safety (DoPS). The Slovakia international is a repeated offender which could see him get a harsh penalty this time.
In March 2024, he received a three-game suspension for boarding Seattle Kraken’s Vince Dunn. Given that he has collected a same penalty, a long suspension could be on it’s way for him.
Recently, the NHL DoPS handed an eight-game suspension to New York Rangers’ rookie Matt Rempe. The long length for this suspension was because Rempe was a repeat offender. On top of that he was ordered to forfeit $80,000 of his salary.

Oh my goodness, that one needs a big suspension. We can’t have those kind of hits in the game anymore. Couldn’t have ended seriously bad. Poor Hallsy.

This Pospisil kid is going to need a suspension to get the hint I think.

I like the way he plays for the most part, but some poor decisions being made. It's no longer a "learning phase" when you're in the NHL.
In the resulting powerplay through this penalty from Pospisil, Connor Bedard collected his 100th point in the NHL as he scored his 12th goal of the season to make it a 4-2 game. In the end, the Calgary Flames added another goal and ran away as comfortable 5-2 winners from this match.
