The 2024 NASCAR Cup season is set to enter the final stage with the season finale at Phoenix and the garage is ready to anoint the champion, while also saying farewell to former champion Martin Truex Jr. The Joe Gibbs Racing veteran is set to retire from full-time racing, and ready to explore his post-NASCAR life.

Martin Truex Jr. ahead of his final race as a full-time driver was asked name the thing, he is going to miss the most by Bob Pockrass. He admitted that he will be missing camaraderie and shared passion for racing. The relationship he made over the years is something Truex Jr. cherishes the most in the sport.

The team, working with the guys, just having that camaraderie and sharing that passion for trying to win and working hard at it. The relationships are really what you take from here and things that will go on for years to come.

He went onto highlight though he likes all the trophies and stats of his NASCAR success, it doesn’t come close to the relationships. Martin Truex Jr. misses the people that has been around him means a lot for him.

You get to keep the trophies, and you get to go back and look at videos and all the stats and all the things — they’re always there to see. But you miss the people, just seeing all the guys at the track every weekend.

While further talking about his NACAR future, the TRD veteran explained that he is going to cherish the life he is going to have now which is not bounded by any schedule. But he is also excited about doing things on his turns and part-time racing ventures.

It’s a grind, and it’ll be nice to just not have my schedule printed out for me a year in advance. That’s the biggest thing, really, is just having some time to myself to do what I want and still getting to race some, too. So just doing things on my own terms.

The Joe Gibbs Racing veteran is determined to have a strong final race and that will help him enjoy his life outside the sport. It will be interesting to see how The No:19 Toyota will perform in the coming years.
