Tennis great Martina Navratilova praised Novak Djokovic for using a new way to control his body temperature. She spoke to Sky Sports Tennis about his method. During his match against Sebastian Korda, Djokovic wore large blue gloves during breaks. This caught the attention of many tennis fans.
The Miami Open had very high temperatures, causing problems for players like Grigor Dimitrov and Emma Raducanu. Djokovic also felt the heat during his quarter-final match. After a strong start, he began to slow down. That’s when he decided to wear the cooling gloves.
They had this technology years ago. They can lower your body temperature in, like, 30 seconds. Put the gloves on, they cool down the blood supply, and I don’t know why more people haven’t been using it, because the technology has been there for decades. Of course, Novak is way ahead of everybody when it comes to technology. I have not used them, they didn’t have them in my day. It’s magic, and I don’t know why the tournaments don’t have it for all the players.
Martina Navratilova said in an interview to Sky Sports
These gloves, made by Newgo, help regulate body temperature. They are affordable, costing around £20 or $25. The gloves have adjustable straps and a wide opening, making them easy to wear. They provide cold therapy for hands, fingers, and wrists.
The gloves help with pain, injuries, and swelling. They also aid recovery after surgery. The outer fabric is soft and leak-proof, keeping them cold for a long time. They can be used for both hot and cold therapy. Users can freeze them for cooling or microwave them for warmth.
Novak Djokovic breaks another Roger Federer record
Novak Djokovic keeps breaking records. He set a new milestone by passing his old rival, Roger Federer. Djokovic reached the semi-finals of the Miami Open with a strong 6-3, 7-6[4] win over Sebastian Korda. Their match was delayed from the night before but finally took place.

The match was tougher than the score suggests. Djokovic was behind 5-2 in the second set. However, he fought back and won in a tie-break. This victory secured his spot in the last four of the tournament for the first time since 2016.
With this win, Djokovic became the oldest player to reach an ATP Masters 1000 semi-final. He broke Federer’s record, who was 37 years and 222 days old when he made his last semi-final in Miami in 2019. Djokovic is now 37 years and 295 days old.
Djokovic also holds the best win rate at the Indian Wells and Miami Open combined. He has won 99 matches and lost only 18. This gives him an impressive 84.6% win rate in these ‘Sunshine Double’ tournaments.
Andy Murray was in a tough spot before Novak Djokovic’s Miami Open semifinals
Andy Murray faced a tricky situation when Novak Djokovic played in the Miami Open semi-final. The British star started coaching Djokovic during the off-season. He has spent the past month in America, supporting him at Indian Wells and Miami.

Djokovic found his rhythm in Miami will now face Grigor Dimitrov for a place in the final. This match is unique because Dimitrov is coached by Jamie Delgado. Delgado was Murray’s coach in 2016 and helped him achieve great success.
Djokovic and Dimitrov met for the 14th time in their careers. Murray has been actively cheering for the Serbian throughout the tournament. Now, he was on the opposite side of the court from his former coach, Delgado.
Delgado has helped Dimitrov return to the top 10 and win a title after six years. Before that, he worked with Murray, guiding him to his second Wimbledon title and Olympic gold. Now, Murray and Delgado are rivals as their players battle for a spot in the final.
