The Arizona Cardinals had a shot to make it to the playoffs in the 2024-25 season, but circumstances beyond their control cost them an opportunity to do so. The team’s 8-9 record was an improvement from their preceding two seasons’ records of 4-13. Last season, the team had quite the hype surrounding entering the season.

The reason? Kyler Murray was back, but this time, there was another man who really boosted the team’s odds of succeeding. It was rookie wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. The fourth overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft is elite and the complete package. From his exceptional route-running capabilities to athleticism, the son of Marvin Harrison Sr. was gifted genetically, and football runs through his veins.

After a strong rookie debut with 885 yards on 62 receptions and 8 touchdowns, Marvin Harrison Jr. may not have had a 1,000-yard receiving season in year 1, but he showed promise. Heading into his sophomore season, there is just one goal for the wide receiver: to win and make the playoffs.

First start by team success, I think we got to make the playoffs. I think this is the like, we want to do what we need to do, we have all the pieces we need, we just got to go out there, and execute at this point. That’s what they bought me here, to help this team win games, so…winning more games than last year…I think definitely last year, we’ll win more games…

Harrison Jr. said, expressing his goal for the upcoming season. The Cardinals have a strong roster, and with minor improvements, this team can make it to the playoffs. In his sophomore season, the wideout will improve, and undoubtedly record the first of many 1,000-yard receiving seasons.

The wideout will not be content with just scraping by and making it to the postseason. He wants to accomplish a feat that has not been done since 2016, to play host to their opponents in the postseason. The franchise has had a record of 5-1 in the playoffs when they face off against a team at State Farm Stadium.

I want to get a home playoff game for Arizona. I actually went to the game with the Rams and Vikings, you know it’s just like there’s a team playing in the playoffs, in our building, and that just didn’t feel right so, they brought me here to help this team win games so I’mma try to do it.”

Interestingly, the wideout has put in more hours in the weight room than on the field. He admitted to putting on a few pounds to his frame, and all that muscle will help him beat his defenders in contested situations. Another key development to watch out for this season will be the improved chemistry between him and Kyler Murray. The duo did well in year one, but there were situations wherein they just failed to connect, and that exposed loopholes in their chemistry.

The Cardinals’ passing offense was not the best either, with them ranking 18th overall in the NFL, averaging 214.1 yards per game. This year, it will not just be Marvin Harrison Jr. who will be expected to step up. Tight end Trey McBride will need to play like he is the most valuable player on the receiving corps after inking a historic $76 million deal earlier this off-season. Arizona will be an interesting team to watch out.
