Mary Kom, Manish Kaushik and Olympic-bound boxers to make competitive return at the Boxam Meet in Spain

Former world champion and Olympic Games medalist Mary Kom as well as Commonwealth Games medalist Manish Kaushik will return to the bowling ring after a long gap. The two last played in the Asian leg of the Olympic Qualifiers which were held in Jordan in March, 2020. Since then, the two have got back to their best shape after recovering from a dengue fever and an injury respectively.

26 of the top Indian boxers will take part in two international tournaments soon. Olympic-bound and probable boxers will travel to Castellon in Spain where the Boxam International Boxing Tournament will take place. The other elite boxers will travel to Sofia in Bulgaria for the Strandja Cup. Amit Panghal who clinch a gold medal in the Cologne World Cup will be among those traveling for the latter event.

With regard to other elite boxers, Asian Games gold medal winner Vikas Yadav who has just returned from professional boxing in USA will also be among those traveling. Meanwhile, young boxer Jasmine will also travel to Spain for what will be her maiden stint with the senior camp. She will take part in the 57 kg category along with Manisha Moun.

The other women to take part in the Boxam meet include Simranjit Kaur who won gold at the Cologne World Cup, Lovlina Borgohain and Pooja Rani. In the Strandja event, the likes of Jyoti, Sakshi, Shashi Chopra, Lalita and Bhagyabati Kachari will travel from the women’s side. In the men’s side, Deepak, Kavinder Singh Bisht, Naveen Boora, Ankit Khatana, Sachin Kumar, Naveen Kumar and Manjeet Sandhu will travel.
